2022 Budget
CRS is entirely funded by individual donors.
Our total funds available for 2022 amounted to £172,454.89 GBP (£1,387.54 starting balance + £171,067.35 in donations).
Of that total, we spent £101,865.98 and carried £70,588.91 forward into 2023. The breakdown of our £101,865.98 in expenses is as follows:

Plans and Updates for 2023
We have a number of exciting goals for 2023.
- CRS researcher Magnus Vinding is working on a new book exploring suffering-focused ethics from a personal perspective, with the goal of attracting more people to the cause and helping those who hold suffering-focused views put them into practice
- Teo Ajantaival will continue to publish articles on minimalist theories of welfare and the practical implications of minimalist views. Minimalist views of wellbeing was published in July
- We have hired a communications manager to help us expand our reach
- We have launched a newsletter to keep subscribers up-to-date with CRS research and opportunities
- Avoiding the Worst Book has been recorded and released as an audiobook – it can be listened to for free here
- A limited number of free physical books are now available to order
- Tobias Baumann has appeared on 21st Talks and the Future of Life Institute Podcast and we have a new page to showcase CRS video and audio content
- Simon Knutsson has published his first essay for CRS:
My moral view: Reducing suffering, ‘how to be’ as fundamental to morality, no positive value, cons of grand theory, and more
