CRS Fundraiser 2024

As we approach the end of the year, we’d like to take this opportunity to thank you for your ongoing support of Center for Reducing Suffering (CRS) and our research.

It has been a busy year for CRS, with several important firsts, including the launch of our new s-risk fellowship. We’ve released new research, books and continued our work to create a future with less suffering.

Here are some highlights of what we achieved:

Plans for 2025

We’re excited for the new year, when we’ll be looking forward to the publication and promotion of a new book from Magnus Vinding, new rounds of the CRS Fellowship, promoting our upcoming S-Risk Intro video Course and growing the Effective Suffering Reducers Community.

In general, compared to previously, we expect to focus more on practical themes, accessible content, and community building.

Here is a summary of some of what we aim to achieve:

  • Hire an additional, flexible ops professional to free up additional capacity within the team
  • Establish CRS as a UK charitable incorporated organisation (CIO)
  • Run and promote two further fellowships
    • A second iteration of the Intro to s-risk fellowship
    • An intro to suffering-focused ethics fellowship
  • Release and promote our new S-Risk Intro Video Course
    • We are continuing work to create a video series that introduces key ideas around s-risk and are aiming to launch in early 2025
  • Publish and professionally promote Magnus Vinding’s new book Compassionate Purpose
  • Grow and foster engagement within the Effective Suffering Reducers Community
  • Hold online reading and discussion groups for CRS books
  • Distribute more books at EAG events and scale up efforts to promote them via online advertising

Fundraiser

To help us continue our work to reduce suffering and achieve our plans for the next year, we’re now aiming to raise $150,000 as part of our end-of-year fundraiser.

With additional funding, we have the potential to ensure our operations run smoothly and effectively, bring more talented researchers on-board to work on our priorities, and fund more promising opportunities.

To support CRS you can visit our Donate page, or contact us directly.

As ever we’d also be very interested to hear from you if you have any thoughts or comments on our work. Please feel free to get in touch with us, or to make use of our anonymous feedback form.

Thank you once again, and all the best for 2025!
